Millions of prairie dogs once lived across the Great Plains, providing abundant food and shelter for many other species of wildlife. But over the last 150 years prairie dogs have been reduced by more than 95 percent, and they continue to be poisoned, shot, bulldozed, and killed by plague.
Your adoption helps Defenders continue to assist Native American Tribes, public land managers and wildlife-friendly ranchers to restore prairie dogs. We also work to stop prairie dog poisoning and shooting on public lands, and to promote nonlethal options like grass buffers and relocation instead.
All donations support our work to protect and restore the wildlife and wild places you care about.
