MANATEE CRISIS: 2013 is the Deadliest Year on Record
772 Florida manatees have died so far in 2013 – that’s a significant loss to the world's population of Florida manatees.
They are victims of a perfect and deadly storm – habitat loss, pollution, boat collisions and a pair of unprecedented and highly lethal algal blooms.
With winter fast approaching these endangered marine mammals aren’t out of the clear; a cold snap could have devastating effects on their population, and many more manatees could die.
With your support, Defenders will work tirelessly to recover these creatures by protecting habitat, reducing human caused threats, and advocating for officials to preserve and safeguard their habitat.
Florida manatees are dying in record numbers – won’t you please donate to help save them and other endangered wildlife?
