Only about 400 critically endangered right whales remain, and the survivors are being wiped out one by one by brutal ship strikes and horrific entanglements in fishing gear. The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is taking public comments as it tries to develop a plan to reduce the risk of death and injury to right whales – but these whales can't wait!
No new protections for right whales have been put in place since 2017, and we've seen 31 documented deaths over the last three years. That count doesn't include the deaths that went undetected, which is expected to be even higher.
The NMFS has delayed their protections for long enough. Time is running out for the last right whales.
Tell the NMFS to take action now, before we lose the rest of this species!
