Act now to protect California's bumble bees!
Four species, the Crotch bumble bee (Bombus crotchii), Franklin’s bumble bee (Bombus franklini), Suckley cuckoo bumble bee (Bombus suckleyi), and the western bumble bee (Bombus occidentalis occidentalis) are facing serious declines due to a number of serious threats, including habitat destruction, overexploitation, disease, climate change, and more.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife will present its evaluation of Defenders’ petition to list these imperiled bees under the California Endangered Species Act at a meeting of the Fish and Game Commission next week. The department is recommending these four bee species as candidates for listing as endangered.
