Demand Orcas Get the Critical Habitat They Need

Southern Resident orcas are running out of time. Just 76 of these critically endangered whales remain in the wild. And the threats to orcas’ survival only continue to grow.

The Trump administration’s proposal to open up oil and gas development along the Pacific Coast would intensify threats to orcas and quicken their extinction unless protective measures are adopted now.

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) was expected to update the orcas’ critical habitat in 2017 to include coastal waters off Washington, Oregon and California but that update never happened.

Urge NMFS to stop delaying this necessary step to save orcas before it’s too late.
