A Devastating Deal for Wolves and Wildlife
A dangerous and infuriating bill is one step closer to becoming law. Senator Tammy Duckworth has voted to push forward a bill that could undermine conservation of gray wolves in the Great Lakes region and lead to more attacks on the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
This bill, deceivingly named the "Hunting Heritage and Environmental Legacy Preservation (HELP) for Wildlife Act," does nothing to "help" imperiled gray wolves and the many species that rely on the ESA. In fact, it is another glaring attempt to undermine the ESA by allowing politics to interfere with decisions that should be made using the best available science.
Besides including a "war on wolves" rider stripping protections from gray wolves in the Great Lakes region, this bill also bars any legal challenges to this congressional delisting or the recent court decision that delisted Wyoming’s wolf population - meaning these decisions could no longer be challenged in court!
Let Senator Duckworth know you are disappointed in her decision to advance this disastrous bill, and that as her constituent, you demand she vote against the bill when it comes to a vote on the Senate floor.
