Stop Sinister Anti-Wildlife Bill
Just before leaving D.C. for the 4th of July holiday, a handful of senators were busy putting forward a last-minute bill that could spell devastation for gray wolves in the Great Lakes region and Wyoming and lead to more attacks on the Endangered Species Act (ESA).
This bill, deceivingly named the “Hunting Heritage and Environmental Legacy Preservation (HELP) for Wildlife Act,” does nothing to “help” imperiled gray wolves and the many species that rely on the ESA. In fact, it is another glaring attempt to undermine the ESA by allowing politics to interfere with decisions that should be made using the best available science.
Besides including a "war on wolves" rider stripping protections from gray wolves in the Great Lakes region, this bill also bars any legal challenges to this delisting or the delisting of Wyoming’s wolf population – meaning they could never be challenged in court!
In a strongly anti-wildlife Senate, a bill like this could easily pass. That means your voice is critical in helping to stop this treacherous legislation from gaining the momentum it needs to pass out of the Senate.
Call on your senators to oppose this bill and its blatant attempt to bypass science in ESA decisions.
