Help Protect Wolverines
With a low population number, rampant habitat loss and a warming climate that threatens the snowpack they need to raise their young, wolverines are in a rough spot. Tough as nails when up against the elements or predators, it’s clear that these resilient animals need our help in order to survive their changing world.
Back in 2014, experts from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) recommended listing the wolverine under the Endangered Species Act, but in a bizarre reversal, in their final analysis, the agency chose to deny them protection!
In April, Defenders and its partners won a lawsuit against FWS over its failure to list this amazing species – a federal judge overturned FWS’ decision and ordered the agency to make a new listing determination. Just last month, FWS announced that it would be making a new final listing decision and asked the public to weigh in.
Now FWS needs to hear from you – tell them that wolverines deserve protection!
