The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) has proposed a new rule to manage and control non-federal oil and gas exploration and development on national wildlife refuges.
Approximately one-third of all national wildlife refuges are dealing with the destructive impacts of oil and gas drilling, including wells, pipelines, storage tanks and other facilities.
The proposed rule makes critical changes to existing, woefully inadequate refuge regulations that have not been updated for over 50 years.
Tell FWS Director Dan Ashe you support the adoption of the strongest possible rule to protect wildlife refuges and their wildlife resources. Act today – comments are due Tuesday, February 9th.
