Roadway collisions take the lives of more than a million animals and  hundreds of people each year. WARNING: Slideshow depicts images of roadkill.
Tell Your Representative to Watch Out for Wildlife

Each year, up to 1.5 million wildlife-vehicle collisions occur in the U.S. These collisions can have a profound effect on some of our most vulnerable animals. In fact, vehicle collisions are a leading cause of death for the critically endangered Florida panther -- a record 17 panthers were killed by vehicles in 2009.

Congress will soon start work on the transportation bill that determines federal funding for roadway projects and how it will be spent over the next several years. This legislation can address the impact of highways on our wildlife -- but Congress needs to hear from you.

Take action today to urge your representative to make our roadways safer for wildlife and motorists alike.
