A quick call will go a long way in helping protect our precious coasts and the wildlife that lives there!

Tell your Representative to protect our coasts!

California Rep. Richard Pombo is at it again. This time he’s trying to strong-arm your Representative to open up our coasts to harmful oil drilling -- putting at risk our dolphins, sea turtles and beaches.

Take action now! Call your Representative today. Urge him or her to stand up to Rep. Pombo -- and stand up for our coasts and our wildlife that lives there.

Just enter your address below, dial the number and use the bullets below to speak out for our coastal wildlife -- and be sure to log your call after you're done! If nobody is able to take your call, please leave a voicemail. Your voice as a constituent is crucial in how your Representative casts his or her vote.

 Talking Points

  • My name is [YOUR NAME] and I'm calling from [YOUR LOCATION], FL, where I live and vote.
  • I am calling to urge [YOUR REPRESENTATIVE] to protect our coasts!  I hope [he/she] will oppose any attempt to open Florida’s coasts to harmful oil drilling. Such legislation would industrialize our coastline, threaten marine mammals and risk coastal communities and economies with oil spills.
  • And for what? Overturning the 25-year coastal drilling moratorium would do nothing to ease our energy crunch or lower prices at the pump.
  • Allowing states to petition to keep the ban in place is not a solution. Oil spills and toxic discharges would still kill wildlife -- and this pollution does not respect state boundaries.
  • We need REAL energy solutions, not more drilling and giveaways to profit-rich companies like ExxonMobil.
  • We consume 25% of the world's oil, yet we sit on just 3% of world reserves. The US can never drill our way to energy independence.  So, rather than offering up our last special places for more drilling, [YOUR REPRESENTATIVE] should focus on real energy solutions like efficiency, renewables and conservation.

If possible, please ask for the name and position of the staff member you speak with and log your call using the link above (next to your Representative's contact information). This will help us more effectively target Congressional staffers in the future.
